Cooperate please ... Police beg relatives of State of Emergency detainees at Tamarind Farm

The security forces are appealing to relatives of individuals detained in the State of Public Emergency in St Catherine North to cooperate with them as they seek to speedily process detainees. 

According to the police, people who have been detained are expected to be processed within the first 24-hours and those in whom there is no further interest will be released.

The police say relatives of detainees may take items of clothing and toiletries for them at the Tamarind Farm Adult Correctional Facility, where all detainees are being held. 

The security forces say they are committed to upholding the human rights and dignity of all detainees and persons who are not associated with detainees should avoid visiting the facility in order to prevent unnecessary challenges as they seek to make the process smooth and efficient.

Meanwhile, the police are advising that persons residing or visiting St Catherine should always have a valid form of identification when leaving home. 

The police are also advising persons that vehicular checkpoints have been set up in operational areas and as so there will be delays. 

In order to minimise inconvenience, persons who do not have to conduct business in Spanish Town during peak hours are urged to use alternative routes.
