MOCA probing telemarketing firm

The Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) yesterday revealed that it has seized almost $2 million and several motor vehicles arising from an investigation into the operations of the telemarketing firm Prisoners For Christ (PFC).

MOCA revealed, too, that three persons were now in custody following a series of operations conducted as part of the investigations.

According to MOCA, PFC, which operates from offices in the Corporate Area, has been offering to import vehicles for members of the public for down payments of between $85,000 and $100,000 until the vehicle arrives in the island.

"We are aware that hundreds of persons have already been defrauded by this entity," the agency said in a message posted on Twitter yesterday.

MOCA said it is aware that disgruntled PFC clients have seized computers and other equipment from the company's offices and it is appealing for their return.

"These devices contain material believed to be of evidentiary value to the ongoing investigation. Therefore, persons in possession of these items are being asked to hand them over to our offices," MOCA said.
