Man's licence revoked for pulling gun in bank

The privilege of carrying a licensed firearm has been taken from the man who pulled his handgun inside the National Commercial Bank in Half-Way Tree, St Andrew, last month.
In a letter, signed by the board of the Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA) on May 9, 2018, he was informed that his licence had been revoked because he was deemed unfit to be entrusted with a firearm.
Cleveland Crooks, FLA's director of compliance and enforcement, confirmed the revocation yesterday. He said that after interviewing numerous individuals and reviewing footage from the bank's security cameras, the authority deduced that the man's actions were in breach of firearm policy.
"It is a fair decision," said Crooks. "There are firearm-safety rules that the gentleman violated. You should never point your weapon at anything unless you intend to destroy it. This bank was crowded on a Thursday afternoon."
The Gleaner spoke to the man yesterday, who was not upset that his licence was revoked but was unhappy that he had been assaulted by a guard. He insisted that he was pushed and felt threatened when a guard reached for his waist.
