Trump to nominate businessman Donald Tapia as ambassador to Ja
United States President Donald Trump has signalled his intention to nominate Arizona businessman Donald Ray Tapia as ambassador to Jamaica.
A statement from the White House yesterday said that Tapia, who has served as chairman and chief executive officer of the Essco Group Management, the largest Hispanic-owned business in Arizona, for over three decades, has been tipped to fill the post, which has been vacant since June 2017 when the tenure of Ambassador Luis Moreno ended.
"Tapia's philanthropic efforts include serving on the board of directors for the Sun Angel Foundation and Endowment at Arizona State University; the Tau Kappa Epsilon Educational Foundation Board of Indianapolis, Indiana; and as Chairman of the Board and Trustee at Saint Leo University," it said.
