Waite reaches out for support from incumbent

With his eyes set on a seat in Gordon House when the next general election is called, Basil Waite, former People's National Party senator, said he would be seeking the support of the incumbent Evon Redman and Everton Fisher as he works to unite Comrades in the constituency.

"I come with an open mind and an open heart and I will be giving my best shot. I know persons did not support me, but I will work on that," Waite told The Gleaner yesterday after he won the run-off to become the party's choice to contest the seat in the next election.

In 2011, Waite had to withdraw his candidacy in the build-up to the general election. He was later replaced by Raymond Pryce, who only survived a term in the constituency.

Waite told The Gleaner he was confident that he would deliver for the people of St Elizabeth North East.
