Expansion of the Constant Spring Road, St Andrew in progress.

The National Works Agency (NWA) has warned motorists to brace for delays when traveling along Constant Spring Road in the vicinity of Mary Brown's Corner and Hillman Road in St Andrew.

According to the NWA, this is as a result of pipe-laying works that are now under way in that area and that have effectively narrowed the roadway. The works are expected to last for the next three weeks.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA Stephen Shaw said that the pipe-laying works are being carried out as part of the overall improvement of Constant Spring Road.

He said that the current works, which cover an area of over 1.5 kilometres, are being done near the centre of the existing thoroughfare and will severely curtail traffic flow in the area.

Motorists are being advised to use one of several alternatives routes during the period of the roadworks. The routes include Mannings Hill Road through Cassava Piece or Constant Spring Grove on the western side, or through Barbican, Shortwood Road, Cherry Gardens and Norbrook Drive on the eastern side of Constant Spring Road.
