Sevaun's Diary

In June, 11-year-old Sevaun McKenzie was selected for the 2018 Gleaner Editor's Scholarship after he scored a 91 per cent average and was placed at Kingston College, the school of his first choice.

Sevaun has now started classes, and this week, as part of efforts to help students make that transition from the primary to the secondary level, The Gleaner will be sharing his trek through the first week at KC, in his own words.

Monday, September 2 Orientation

The day started with a long and informative ceremony inside the St Augustine Chapel at the North Street campus, which is the senior school. But we were told the first-formers would have classes at the junior school at the Melbourne campus.

During the ceremony, they told us some of the school's history, like who founded the school and our motto, 'The Brave May Fall But Never Yield', which in Latin is 'Fortis Cadere Cedere Non Potest'.

We also met our form/visual arts teacher. I think she is a very strict teacher. She told us about some of our school rules. All in all, I think it was a wonderful day.
