Mathieu ... was shot dead by a security guard at a Dream Weekend party in August.

The Director of Public Prosecutions has ruled that the security guard who allegedly shot a patron at a Dream Weekend party in Negril be charged with murder.

The guard, Mike Chin, is expected to surrender to the police this morning and is to later appear before the Westmoreland Parish Court to answer the charge.

According to a report by the police, Jean Mathieu, a 37-year-old businessman of Millsborough Crescent in St Andrew and Montreal, Canada, was fatally shot during an altercation with the security guard at one of the popular Dream Weekend parties in August.

Mathieu is reported to have attempted to bring a female into the VIP area without an armband and was denied by the guard.

It's alleged that during an altercation, the businessman pulled a gun and pointed it at the guard.

The guard then reportedly pulled his licensed firearm and shot Mathieu.
