Spelling Bee | Taevion came to win ... and he did

Taevion Morgan from Know Junior School is the Manchester champion for The Gleaner's Children's Own Spelling Bee.

Taevion on winning: "I feel very happy. I felt that I could win the competition and I did."

- He is seven years old.

- He is in grade three.

- He started studying for Spelling Bee in May.

- He loves to play basketball and football.

- He is a member of the 4-H Club at his school.

- He also holds a green belt in karate.

Barrington Wilson is not new to being the coach of a parish champion. He now has five parish championships under his belt; which include his daughter, Drizel Wilson, who was parish champion in 2016 and this year's top girl for the parish.

Coach on winning: "I am overwhelmed and happy for him, but also for the school because they needed this win."

Sharee Morgan (Mom): "He said he came to win it and that's what he did. I am excited and I am surprised because I knew that he could complete the book because he knew all the words, but I wasn't sure he would be able to spell the unseen words and that's what made him win - the unseen words."
