Petrojam responds to discrepancy in sum owed

Aegean, the Greek fuel trading company that filed for bankruptcy protection in the United States, has stated in court documents that it owes the state-owned oil refinery, Petrojam, US$3.17 million.

This comes in the wake of denials yesterday by Petrojam that the company owed it the specified sum.

In a follow-up yesterday, Petrojam stated that it was not involved in the preparation or filing of documents in the US courts, and as such, "we are not in a position to speak to a discrepancy between the documents filed and our internal records.

"We have notified Aegean Marine Petroleum of local media reports and have confirmed with them that the total amount due to Petrojam is US$370,000.

"We anticipate that they will make the necessary corrections to the documents that they filed," the company said yesterday.
