Expect delays along Washington Boulevard and Mandela Highway – NWA

The National Water Commission (NWC) is carrying out works in the vicinity of Tom Cringle Drive along the Mandela Highway and Ken Hill Drive along Washington Boulevard, which is impacting the flow of traffic along both corridors.

Stephen Shaw, communication and customer services manager at the National Works Agency (NWA), said that the NWC is installing connector pipelines and a pressure-control valve across from the Boulevard Shopping Centre, which has reduced the westbound carriageway to single-lane traffic, while a broken NWC main at the Tom Cringle Drive intersection has caused traffic to slow to a snarl along the Mandela Highway.

NWC expects to complete repairs to the broken main tomorrow and should wrap up the pipe-installation works at Ken Hill Drive today.

The NWA is appealing to motorists to use alternative routes, where possible, and to exercise patience as they travel along the affected sections.
