PJ salutes Pringle - Former PM hails his dear friend who died last week

Former Prime Minister P.J. Patterson has joined a host of Jamaicans paying tribute to former minister of tourism, senator and special envoy, Ambassador Frank Pringle, who died at his Spring Farm, Rose Hall, St James, home last Monday night.

"Ambassador Pringle served Jamaica with distinction, honour, unwavering commitment and with a great sense of love for his country and people," said Patterson.

"He brought to the job of minister of tourism a clear vision for the development of the industry and country as well as his vast first-hand knowledge of the sector," added Patterson, as he pointed to Pringle's long involvement in the tourism sector.

The former prime minister also saluted Pringle for his contributions to debates in the Senate, which Patterson said demonstrated his sharp mind, his civility, and the balanced nature, mature and responsible approach he brought to political discourse.

"His political philosophy was shaped by his commitment to social justice and his acute sense of the possibility for development through progressive political action," said Patterson.

"Above all else, Frank Pringle was a proud Jamaican and a decent human being, whose humility belies his ancestry among the upper social and economic echelons of Jamaican society," declared Patterson.
