Maxfield Park Children's Home feted with gifts

Children at Maxfield Park Children's Home in Kingston were not left disappointed yesterday after they were feted with gifts and entertainment during the Jamaica Energy Partners annual Christmas treat.
Marcia Smith Ashley, caregiver at the home, said that the treat is something that the children look forward to every year. She, however, made an appeal for persons not to forget Christ as they celebrated the season.
"The treat is well appreciated and the children look forward to it. The whole idea of giving back to society is welcoming, and we appreciate it. The kids are very excited," he said.
Melissa Newman, community and public relations specialist for Jamaica Energy Partners and West Kingston Power Partners, said that her organisation look forward to treating the children.
"We are continuing our partnership with the Maxfield Park Children's Home, and we have been with this home since 2012. Just to come and experience the fun that the children are having and to share the love, is really fulfilling," she told The Gleaner.
"We really want to impact the lives of these children. They pretty much have no family and are abandoned. We want them to feel a part of the Jamaica Energy Partners family," she continued.
"If Jamaicans could participate more in events like these, it would make a difference. It doesn't have to be a lot of money, it's sharing the gift of love and just to ensure that we be our brother's keeper."
