Come Monday, patients who utilise pharmacy services at the St James Type 5 Health Centre on Creek Street in Montego Bay will do so in a new, more spacious Drug Serv towards the back of the property. As a result, pharmacy services will no longer be available at the adjoining building at the health centre.

In order to facilitate relocation efforts, pharmacy services at the current pharmacy will be closed to the public until Monday in the new building.

Over the weekend, patients can get their medication at Drug Serv Mount Salem, or at any of the National Health Fund's private pharmacy partners in Montego Bay, which are Hilton's Pharmacy, C&J Professional Pharmacy, Drugs Mart Pharmacy, Healthy Concept Pharmacy, and J&J Pharmacy in Mount Salem.

The building housing the new pharmacy was completed over a three-month period at a cost of approximately $10 million.

Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Fund (NHF) Everton Anderson said: "The St James Type 5 Health Centre Drug Serv Pharmacy processes an average of 4,200 prescriptions per month. So this new building on the premises of the health centre will allow NHF to serve our customers more effectively, with larger storage space for medication, and, most importantly, to offer a better customer experience. In fact, this project is a reflection of NHF's focus to deliver quality customer service to our citizens."

The opening hours for the new pharmacy building at the St James Type 5 Health Centre will remain Mondays to Fridays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Drug Serv will also be open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
