District constable, businessman charged for bomb hoaxes

Two men believed to have created panic in Kingston and Falmouth last year reporting fake bomb threats at courthouses to detract from cases they have before the courts have been charged.
The men, 53-year-old businessman Cardel Clarke of Top Town in Clark’s Town, Trelawny, and 34-year-old District Constable Jason Williams of Kelly Road, Kingston 2, have been charged with creating public mischief.
Detectives assigned to the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation (C-TOC) Branch have found that the men called the courthouses and reported that bombs had been planted within the precincts on three occasions in August, September and December 2018.
Clarke will appear in the Trelawny Parish Court on Wednesday, February 6 and Williams in the St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday, February 21.
Head of C-TOC, Assistant Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey, said investigations into two other cases are continuing.
