The Home Circuit Court was told yesterday that alleged members of the Uchence Wilson Gang carried out a total of 53 transactions at a popular pawnshop in the Corporate Area as the trial for the 24 alleged gangsters and their accomplices continued yesterday.

The pawnshop executive testified that accused Shantol Gordon, who is said to have been Wilson’s girlfriend at the time of their arrest in 2017, pawned jewellery and electronics, making reference to contracts made between the company and the accused.

The witness, who cannot be named due to a court order, said that in 2016, Gordon pawned two chains, a broken bracelet, earrings, and two pendants valued at $142,000.

She said that the transaction was carried out by former employee Ricardo Serju, who is also on trial.

According to the witness, another transaction shows that Gordon pawned a gold chain, a pendant, and a gold ring valued at $12,000. She said that this transaction was also carried out by Serju.

The witness said that on other occasions, Gordon pawned a Samsung cell phone for $25,000 and a surveillance system for $10,000.

Meanwhile, the witness revealed that she was familiar with Serju and Jermaine Stewart, who are former employees of the pawn company.

She said that the pair was considered to be among the company’s top sales and loans associates and would meet targets.

Wilson and his 23 alleged cronies are being tried for breaches of the Criminal Justice (Suppression of Criminal Organisations) Act 2014, commonly referred to as the anti-gang legislation, for crimes allegedly committed between 2015 and 2017. They are also being tried for breaches of the Firearms Act.

It is alleged that the gang carried out robberies across seven parishes and carried some of the stolen items to the pawnshop for sale.

The pawnshop executive will continue to give testimony today.
