Three suspects held for May Pen robbery

The Clarendon police have taken three suspects into custody following investigations into the robbery of a supermarket in Guinep Tree, May Pen, Clarendon, on Sunday.

The men were picked up during an operation in the parish about 5:30 a.m. yesterday.

Reports are that about 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, police officers were engaged in a confrontation with gunmen after they approached a supermarket that was being robbed.

Two officers were shot and injured during the incident.

Two cars, which the gunmen used to escape from the scene were intercepted, and the criminals abandoned the vehicles.

A shotgun, three M16 magazines and a 9mm magazine, along with $496,000 cash, were recovered.

However, the gunmen escaped with $3 million and two mobile phones valued at more than $200,000.
