As investigators continue to probe the triple murder that rocked Waterford, Portmore, last weekend, there is a denial from the grandson of one of the victims that there could be a link between the killing and the shooting of entertainer Sikka Rhymes.

Sikka Rhymes, whose real name is Javian Chambers, was shot and injured in Liguanea, St Andrew, mere hours before the triple murder and is currently in hospital battling for his life.

He operates out of Portmore, St Catherine.

Reports are that the triple murder might have been a reprisal for Rhymes’ shooting.

However, Krisho Holmes, the grandson of the oldest victim of the Waterford attack, has distanced his family from the shooting.

“Any thought or idea that me or my family is involved in any criminality is ludicrous. We are known as the family for the community, with roots as far back as the inception in 1975. Our family fed many of those on the Gaza and off. Our family facilitated water during corner league competitions, and Mr and Mrs Russell provided employment for many at their stores in Kingston, Best Mart,” Holmes, also the Jamaica Labour Party caretaker for the area, said.

“My family and I have nothing to do with the violence in Waterford, and we distance ourselves from the mere thought of hurting or causing hurt to anyone in Waterford,” he further asserted.

Holmes said that reports that a 17-year-old male who lives in the household where the gruesome attack took place was behind the attack were not true.

“This description was clear and suggested my uncle. Since then, there has been increased threat to his life, other family members, and close friends,” Holmes said.

“My family in Waterford remains innocent of this assault on our neighbour and young, upcoming artiste. We wish for him a speedy recovery,” he added.

Since the shooting, a curfew has been declared in the area.
