According to the police, Sinclair, secretary at the National Works Agency, Santa Cruz, had reportedly left the home she shared with her boyfriend because he was physically abusing her.

The police report that about 10:50 p.m. Sinclair was at home with her relatives when screams were heard coming from her room.

They say checks were made and she was found lying on the floor and the man seen running from the scene.

The police were alerted and Sinclair was seen with multiple stab wounds to her upper body.

She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The man was subsequently handed to the police by his father.
