Missing St James teacher found dead at home

Mystery surrounds the circumstances that led to the death of Nicolene Brown, a 43-year-old St James teacher whose partially decomposed body was found in her house in Plum district in Cambridge on Tuesday, three days after she went missing.

According to residents, the deceased woman, who taught at a basic school in the community, was last seen shortly after midday on Saturday, seemingly awaiting transportation to travel to Montego Bay. Her neighbour became concerned when they noticed that she had not returned at nightfall.

“Di last time mi si Nicole was Saturday morning when shi come up a morning service a church. About 9:30, she left and tell mi seh shi a go down a har yard,” said Winnel Brown, the deceased woman’s aunt.

“Mi neva si har again, but Saturday night, har neighbour call mi and tell mi seh nobody nuh si Nicole, and it strange because her entire house inna darkness,” added the aunt.

On Sunday morning, the aunt and other relatives went to the missing woman’s house, but there was no sign of her. Having not turned up for work on Monday, relatives again visited the teacher’s home and were greeted by a foul smell when they approached a window.

“When wi look carefully, wi si a trail of blood under har door and wi call di police. The police come and break off di lock and go inside. Dem find her dead pon di ground,” Brown said.

The matter is being investigated by detectives from the Cambridge Police Station.
