Suspect in murder of cop's mother surrenders to police

One of the suspects who was wanted in connection with the murder of a cop's mother in Old Habour, St Catherine has surrendered to the police.

The police say the suspect, whose name is being withheld, turned in himself to the Old Harbour Police on Friday. 

He is to be interviewed in the presence of his attorney.

Fifty-seven-year-old Laetitia Francis, a shopkeeper of Angel’s Drive in Old Harbour was shot dead by men at her establishment shortly before noon on Thursday.

Francis was the mother of a policeman who was involved in the fatal shooting of one of two men who reportedly attacked the police recently. 

In the meantime, the Corporate Communications Network says the threat level against the police has been elevated.
