August 25 judgment for men detained under SOE

The Supreme Court has further delayed the judgment on whether the five men detained under states of emergency (SOE) for extended periods will be released.
An application for their release is being heard by presiding judge Justice Bertram Morrison.
The men – Everton Douglas, Nicholas Heat, Courtney Hall, Courtney Thompson, and Gavin Noble – are being held under SOEs in Kingston Eastern, St Andrew South, Westmoreland, and Clarendon.
Some of them have been in custody for more than a year, without being charged with any crime.
In court yesterday, the judge said, in an effort to wrap up the hearing before the court term ends on Friday, he would provide the judgment today.
However, today, he noted that due to the volume of material, he will provide his judgement on August 25.
The men will remain in custody pending the ruling.
