Fish vendor murdered at stall

A probe has been launched by police detectives into the brazen murder of a fish vendor on Sunday morning in downtown Kingston.
The police reported that 53-year-old Theodora ‘Linda’ Edwards, from New Harbour Village, St Catherine, was vending at her usual stall on Heywood Street around 11 a.m. when she was shot three times by a gunman.
She died on the spot, leaving fellow vendors and loyal customers in mourning and shock.
Hawkers described her as a “good woman” who always took time from selling fish to cook meals for the less fortunate in downtown.
“She was a loving and caring person. She cook food and give to the people dem pon di roadside,” a male vendor, who requested anonymity out of fear of criminals, told The Gleaner on Sunday.
“Whole heap a people a go miss har. A today when everybody realise, dem a go bawl.”
In an unrelated incident, a St Catherine barber was hospitalised after being shot multiple times. He plunged off the third-floor balcony of the Port Henderson Plaza in Portmore, St Catherine.
Up to press time, the police could not confirm the man’s condition.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly before 11 a.m. A bystander reported hearing at least a dozen explosions.
After shooting the barber, the lone gunman, who was reportedly wearing a hoodie, descended a flight of stairs before escaping in a waiting motor vehicle.
