Bird-shooting season starts Saturday
As bird shooters observe COVID-19 guidelines during this year’s season, the National Environment and Planning Agency is also reminding them that only four birds may be legally hunted.
The prey are Zenaida Dove/Pea Dove, White-winged Dove/Long-tailed Pea Dove, White-crowned Pigeon/Baldpate, and the Mourning Dove/Long-tailed Pea Dove.
The season runs from Saturday, August 15 to Sunday, September 20.
The bag limit for each shooting session is 20 birds, no more than 15 of which should be the White-crowned Pigeon, which is also known as the Baldpate. The feathered head of all birds shot must be retained for inspection.
Hunting sessions are from sunrise to 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to sunset on Saturdays, and from sunrise to 9 a.m. on Sundays.
The cost of a hunter’s licence remains at $20,000.
