UWI closes Senate, admin buildings after COVID case on campus

The UWI said students, parents and other stakeholders who wish to conduct business with the bursary, Student Administrative Services or registry are asked to use the online services until they reopen on September 3.

The University of the West Indies Mona has closed its Senate and Administrative Annex buildings for two days following the confirmation of a COVID case on the campus.

The UWI says the buildings will be cleaned and disinfected.

In the meantime, it said "safely situated" faculties and offices will continue operations.

According to the UWI, the affected staff member who works in a specialised area with no contact with the public or other departments, has not been on campus since August 25.

It said students, parents and other stakeholders who wish to conduct business with the bursary, Student Administrative Services or registry are asked to use the online services until they reopen on September 3.

"We wish to assure all members of our Campus Community that all decisions taken have the health and safety of our staff and students at heart," said a UWI spokesperson in a release.
