There has been deafening silence surrounding the findings of an investigation into the death Susan Bogle, four months after a post mortem was conducted by a government pathologist.

Bogle, a 43-year-old disabled woman, was reportedly shot in her home by a soldier during a police-military operation in August Town, St Andrew, in May.

Residents reported that soldiers had chased someone into the building.

Her death sparked widespread condemnation from Jamaicans at home and abroad and a petition launched in June calling for justice in the matter has racked up 61,000 signatures.

The Gleaner understands that Bogle died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) had previously indicated that the initial ballistics report was inconclusive.

INDECOM Deputy Commissioner Hamish Campbell last told The Gleaner in July that more analysis is needed in its probe into whether the bullet was fired by a member of the Jamaica Defence Force or by a gunman.

Omari Stephens, one of Bogle’s sons, expressed on social media this week that he was growing impatient with the investigations.

“It’s been over 4 months since the killing of my mom #Susanbogle and I am being told that the post Mortem examination report is still not ready,” he tweeted.

Several human-rights groups have also joined his call for an update on the matter.

There has been no response to The Gleaner’s efforts to get an update on the matter from INDECOM.
