The St Andrew Central police are probing a suspected case of suicide after a former superintendent of corrections was found hanging from a sheet in his Beverly Hills Hotel home in St Andrew on Monday.

Dead is 69-year-old Leroy Fairweather.

Reports are that residents became suspicious after Fairweather had not been seen or heard from since 7 p.m. on Sunday and could not be reached.

A report was made to the Matilda’s Corner police, who then visited his home.

The Gleaner gathered that the police team forced open the door and saw Fairweather hanging from a doorpost in his bedroom.

He was pronounced dead on location by a doctor.

Senior Superintendent Jacqueline Coombs, who is in charge of the St Andrew Central Police Division, told The Gleaner that investigations were ongoing.

Fairweather served at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre for many years before retiring in 2013.
