The 13-year-old girl who vanished last Friday after leaving her Windsor Heights, St Catherine, home has been found.

Lamekia Lamont, an eighth-grade student at Camperdown High, had started corresponding with her biological mother weeks ago.

Her legally adoptive parents, Obadiah and Millicent Lamont, were said to be relieved but shaken as Mr Lamont and the child spoke to officers at the Greater Portmore Police Station Monday night.

Lamekia’s biological mother and another woman were also reportedly at the police station Monday night.

Davii, a family friend and neighbour of the Lamonts, told The Gleaner on Monday that a relative received a call from the police about 6:15 p.m. that Lamekia had been found in May Pen, Clarendon.

The young girl was reportedly crying last night, apparently torn between her adoptive parents and her biological mom.

“Maybe she was a little scared that the family would have been upset. She seemed to have calmed down, though,” Davii said.
