Sandals Foundation donates $2 million in supplies to COVID vaccination programme

The Sandals Foundation has donated more than $2 million in supplies to the Private Sector Vaccine Initiative to support the Health Ministry’s national COVID vaccination plan.
The supplies include infrared thermometers, coolers, tents, chairs and tables.
They will be distributed to health centres administering the COVID-19 vaccines.
The Private Sector Vaccine Initiative has committed to helping the government increase the pace of vaccination administration by mobilising businesses to provide funds.
It is also providing logistical and technical resources along with the procurement of critical hardware to underpin the programme.
Executive Director at the Sandals Foundation Heidi Clarke, says it is important that the business sector plays its part in support the healthcare system.
Chris Zacca, the chairman of the Private Sector Vaccine Initiative Oversight Committee, was grateful for the donation.
“As the programme rolls out, we expect to see more contributions from our members as the response to the request for support has been extremely positive,” he said.
Zacca also said the private sector stands ready to play its part in helping Jamaica overcome COVID and get back on a path to positive and sustainable economic activities.
