Controversial football manager Craig Butler is being hauled before the court over alleged unpaid rent amounting to $660,000.
The matter is expected to be mentioned in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court (Civil Division) on Sutton Street today.
The claim is being brought by AMH Limited, from which Butler reportedly rented a town house property in the Kingston 8 area.
According to a document filed in the Parish Court on March 15 this year, between October 3, 2020, and January 3, 2021, Butler “refused” to pay the monthly rent of $165,000.
The document said a notice to quit was served on October 21, 2020, for the premises to be vacated by December 3, 2020.
It said that the premises were not vacated until “on or about” February 3, 2021.
“The plaintiff has made several attempts to recover rent from the defendant, but the defendant indicated in October 2020 that he would no longer be paying the rent,” the document said.
AMH Limited is seeking outstanding rent, cost, and “further and such other relief as the honourable court may deem just”.
In addition to the outstanding rent, the company is also seeking interest.
Contacted by The Gleaner on Wednesday evening, Butler said he was not aware of the case.
“I have no knowledge of that. I know nothing about that court matter you are talking about. I have no idea,” Butler said.
Asked if he would be in court today, he said: “I have no comment. I have no interest.”
