WESTERN BUREAU:

Relatives of 27-year-old Chaleen Evans, the Hanover woman who went missing on Christmas Day, were in a joyful mood yesterday after the University of the West Indies student was found alive on a beach near the Hopewell High School after a five-day search.

“I can’t tell you how mi feel right yah now. Mi feel good; mi belly full. Right now, mi nuh want no food,” a relieved father, Kitson Evans, told The Gleaner late yesterday.

He acknowledged that the successful effort was spurred by a dream received by a relative, who shared it with two cousins.

“Two of her cousins – Trishauna and Monique – a dem get a call from another relative, and [him] tell dem that him get a dream seh ‘Chin’ deh pon a beach side inna the area, which deh close to a Englishman yard, which has a closed gate, but warn dem that nuff dog inna the yard,” Evans said.

The women then left their home in Clifton and went to Hopewell, and just as the dreamer had told them, they came upon the beach house owned by the Englishman, with the gates closed, with dogs on guard.

After making their way across the property and navigating rugged terrain, Chaleen was spotted.

TAKEN TO HOSPITAL

Chaleen, who, seemingly, was happy to be found, was transported to the Noel Holmes Hospital in Lucea by the police and placed under observation.

Evans went missing from the community of Orchard Gardens in Hopewell, Hanover, on Christmas morning, sparking several days of searching by the police, fire personnel, military personnel, family members, and friends, who were assisted by K-9 dogs.

Reports are the woman left her home in Clifton district, also in Hanover, to visit her child’s father in another Hanover community. On Saturday morning, at about 7:30 a.m., she reportedly ran from the house with her child.

She reportedly left the child along the roadway outside the entrance of her babyfather’s home and ran off into the bushes. She was not seen again until she was found yesterday.
