Woman killed in lovers’ row; head nearly severed

The Trelawny police have launched a manhunt for the killer of a 41-year-old farmer whose head was partially severed in a domestic dispute at her Green Town farm on Monday.
Residents and family members in the rural district expressed shock at the macabre murder of Garcia Williams of Mendez Town.
Omar ‘Big Shot’ Bennett, also of a Trelawny address, has been identified as a person of interest.
Reports by the Wait-A-Bit police are that about 9:15 a.m., Williams left her home and visited her yam farm.
She was alleged confronted by her partner, with whom she reportedly had squabbles in recent weeks.
A relative of the deceased farmer told The Gleaner on Monday that Wllliams had recently ordered her partner to move out of the house after their common-law relationship soured.
Williams is said to have received threats on her life.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with dem man yah nowadays,” said the relative, who gave her name only as Sheron.
“The woman is very hard-working, and every day you would see her go to her farm, but the boy jealous no hell. Him accuse her o’ all kind o’ things.”
Superintendent Carlos Russell, commanding officer of the Trelawny Police Division, appealed for the suspect to turn himself in.
“We have seen once again another unfortunate family dispute which ended with a female being killed,” said Russell.
The divisional police chief has urged residents who may have information on the suspect’s location to divulge all they know.
Five persons have been murdered in Trelawny during the month of January.
