10 titbits on Prince William

1. Was the first future British king to be born in a hospital, after arriving at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London.

2. Made his first trip overseas when he was nine months old, joining his parents on an official visit to Australia and New Zealand in 1983. Before this, royal children were never taken on tour.

3. He’s a left-hander and speaks passable French.

4. Has achieved the highest educational degree of any member of the royal family – Master of Arts.

5. Wanted to become a policeman but was told he would have to settle for being king one day.

6. Was hospitalised after being hit on the forehead with a golf club by a friend. The blow caused a depressed fracture of the skull.

7. Known by his fellow airmen as ‘Billy the Fish’, a pun on the name ‘William Wales’.

8. Is a supporter of the English Premier League team Aston Villa because he wanted to be different from his friends.

9. Was an air ambulance pilot.
