The younger sister of the man accused of sexually abusing their five-year-old sister and her two-year-old baby girl has expressed hope that her brother will spend a long time in prison after he was taken into police custody.

The 29-year-old man, who is alleged to have molested both infants at their family home in Negril, Westmoreland, was apprehended by lawmen in the parish yesterday morning.

Investigators in Negril told The Gleaner that the accused man was held on a farm in the Whithorn area hours after he was spotted at a location in Montego Bay, St James – some 29 miles away.

“Mi feel glad when mi hear that them hold him and mi think him fi feel the same pain that him mek mi little sister and mi daughter go through,” the woman told our news team.

“Mi hear that them ketch him pon one farm a Whithorn, but up to now mi don’t see him ... . Dem fi send him a prison for a long time,” she added.

The accused man was held days after he fled the family home after being confronted by family members.

The mother of the five-year-old girl, who is also the grandmother of the two-year-old infant, reportedly became suspicious while washing her daughter’s underwear one evening and questioned her about some marks.

Based on what she was told, the woman stated that she then confronted her son, who denied the allegations.

She reported the matter to the police and both children were taken to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, where medical checks confirmed that they had been sexually molested.

The accused was initially held by his older brother days ago, but he managed to escape from the house before the police arrived by jumping over a wall.
