Golding to pick Hanna’s replacement

With no candidate receiving the 50 per cent needed to win selection, People’s National Party (PNP) President Mark Golding is set to choose Lisa Hanna’s replacement in South East St Ann.

At the end of yesterday’s selection exercise,778 delegates had voted, with Dr Kenneth Russell receiving 358, to Wavell Hinds 245 and Patricia Duncan Sutherland’s 171.

The PNP’s constitution empowers the party president to select representatives.

Hanna, a four-term member of parliament, announced last year that she would not be contesting the next general election, which is constitutionally due by September 2025.
