The woman charged with killing eight-year-old Danielle Rowe is disappointed that her application for bail was not heard yesterday, her attorney, Donnovan Collins, has disclosed.

A judge at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court was expected to hear the bail application for accused child killer Kayodia Satchell, who has been in custody since her arrest in August.

However, when the case was called up, the country’s top prosecutor used her constitutional powers and entered a voluntary bill of indictment, moving the case from the parish court to the Criminal Division of the High Court.

“My client has maintained her innocence and was anxiously awaiting a bail application today,” Collins told The Gleaner.

However, the attorney said he was “happy” the case has now reached the High Court “because we are almost certain that at this level, the court will not entertain some of the basic excuses that have stalled my client’s bail application”.

Rowe, who was a second-grade student at Braeton Primary and Infant School in Portmore, St Catherine, was abducted as she and her brother waited to be picked up by their mother on June 8.

She was found along Roosevelt Avenue in St Andrew later that day with her throat slashed.

The eight-year-old died at the Bustamante Hospital for Children two days later.
