Representatives from the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) yesterday visited the two paraplegic brothers at their home at Clifton in Bernard Lodge, St Catherine to assess their conditions.

The visit was in response to an article published in The Sunday Gleaner highlighting the plight of the brothers who are in dire need of help.

They are 15-year-old Amari Carby and 10-year-old Kemoy Allen.

Cynthia Brivit, assistant leader of the community service department of the Clifton Seventh-day Adventist Church, told The Gleaner about the visit by CPFSA.

Brivit, who plays an active role in taking care of the boys and getting them to church every Sabbath said she was delighted that the agency has taken an interest in their welfare.

She said the boys were asked by the agency’s representatives to spell their names but the older one could not. She said the younger one tried and did spell his name.

Brivit said since the article was published some people have called her to check on the situation with the boys and some are contemplating what assistance they can give.

“I am not ashamed to say the boys need a lot of help because their mother does not have the financial means to attend to their basic and medical needs. All I can say is that the boys need a lot of help with basic items such as clothes, food and Pampers,” she said.

Brivit is hoping that the agency, organisations, business places and individuals will step in to help the boys.

It has not yet been established what condition has caused the boys’ paralysis but Brivit says they need help and support to live comfortably.
