Former Clerk to the Houses of Parliament Valrie Curtis has been employed in a senior position at King’s House.

The Gleaner has been reliably informed by a government source that the former clerk started in her new role earlier this month.

Curtis retired from Parliament on April 6, this year, after serving there for almost three decades.

The informed source divulged that Curtis is now serving in a senior executive position at King’s House.

Members of civil society, union leaders and the parliamentary Opposition in April defended Curtis’ integrity and contribution to the Houses of Parliament following accusations of gross dereliction of duty by Speaker of the House Juliet Holness.

Despite a chorus of calls from various groups for the Speaker to publicly apologise to Curtis, to date, no such apology or retraction has taken place.

Curtis has been recognised for her sterling contribution to Parliament and received the Badge of Honour for Meritorious Service in 2014 and the Order of Distinction (Commander Class) in 2020.
