National high jump champion and national record holder Lamara Distin enters her first Olympic Games, already used to the spotlight of major championships.

Distin made her first major global senior team in 2022, a year in which she broke the national record with a height of 1.97 metres.

At the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon, she made the final on her first attempt, finishing fifth before securing her first major title at the Commonwealth Games later that year.

Last year she finished fourth against a strong field at the World Championship final in Budapest.

This year she sets her sights on becoming the country’s first Olympic medal holder in the event in a season where she has soared as high as 2.00 metres for the first time in her career.
