Fireworks to ring in 2025 in Kgn, MoBay, Ocho Rios
The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) is expecting huge crowds for its annual Fireworks Festival, set to ring in the new year at three locations across the island tonight, with a roster of popular and upcoming artistes.
This is the 21st staging of the Fireworks Festival, which is being held this year under the theme, ‘Life, Love and Harmony’.
“We are expecting a massive turnout as 2025 will be a pivotal year for Jamaica, so we want persons to come out and to ring in the positivity,” Tyrell Morgan, communication manager at the UDC, told The Gleaner.
In Kingston, the Fireworks Festival will be held at the Kingston waterfront and will feature artistes such as Kevin Downswell, Alaine, Chalice, Louie Culture, Samory I, Janeel Mills, Humble (an a cappella group), Orville Sutherland, and Mortimer, with backing band Fire Brand.
In Ocho Rios, St Ann, the event will be at the Ocho Rios Bay Beach, where Jennifer ‘Jenny Jenny’ Small will bring the energy as emcee. The lineup features Gramps Morgan, Little Hero, Chezidek, Levy’s Heritage, Lubert Levy, Joby Jay, Ras I, and Sister Pat, with the Euphonic Tone band.
At Harmony Beach Park in Montego Bay, St James, Luciano will headline the proceedings with AJ Brown, Papa Michigan, Mackie Conscious, Audia Spencer, Courtni, and ZJ Mendz also on the programme.
“We’ll be simulcasting, so wherever you are, you’ll be getting a little taste of what’s happening at other locations,” Morgan pointed out.
The programme sees family-oriented activities in a vending village, with a kiddies areas featuring a variety of rides; a stage show; a VIP front-row party; and fireworks display at midnight.
While general admission to all three venues is free, there is a cost to access the VIP front-row party in Kingston and Ocho Rios.
In Kingston, the cost for the VIP front-row party is: adults – $15,000; double – $25,000; children – $10,000; package deal for family of four – $40,000.
For Ocho Rios, the cost is a bit less: adults – $8,000; double – $15,000; children five to 15 years – $5,000; package for family of four – $25,000.
Admission to the kiddies village for all-day rides is $1,500 in Kingston and $1,000 in Ocho Rios.
Designated parking areas in Kingston attract fees of $500 for parking at Fisheries car park, craft market car park, Harbour Street car park, West Street car park, Temple Lane car park, Transport Centre, Jamaica Customs car park, Lot 20 Kingston Waterfront, and Scotiabank Car Park 2.
Premium parking is available at Jamaica Conference Centre, at a cost of $1,000.
There is also a park and ride service available at National Heroes Park for $500.
