Change the law

THE EDITOR, Sir:

We know this saying like a poem: "The heart of man is desperately wicked." Yes indeed, it's true.

There are times when the prime minister reshuffled or rearranged his Cabinet - making specific changes, by putting some members in different positions.

How good and pleasant it would be also, if the Government of Jamaica would change some of the rules and regulations: "criminality" - those that have to do with justice and the punishing of wrongdoers.

For example, it would be of great joy to me if and when a man is found guilty, without a shadow of a doubt, of a serious crime, such as killing a couple in cold-blood, by kicking down their door and murdering them, including slitting their throats - that son of a bitch should never be allowed to see a lawyer or be tried in court - he should instead be given life sentence in prison, or be given the death penalty.

Yes, I would definitely like the powers that be to say something like this: "No lawyer, no courthouse, no trial for convicted murderers, because it's a waste of time, waste of taxpayers' money - straight to prison." That's what needs to be done.
