Stop blaming cops for triviality

THE EDITOR, Sir:
In response to the letter entitled "Cops don't know what it means to serve", published on Saturday, June 16, 2018, we are at it again, finding every reason to chastise the service men and women.
Here is an article in Jamaica's prestigious newspaper written by Quincy Lester to highlight the issue of a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) not opening a door for a baby mother.
Now this adds to the millions of complaints and accusations that the police faces. They are accused of not delivering babies, not crossing old ladies, not quieting noisy bikes, searching in ZOSO, not searching in ZOSO, traffic pile up, not tying the shoe laces of school children, not staying in traffic like everybody else, responding too slowly to emergency, enforcing the law, not enforcing the law and the list goes on.
Police officers are the most criticised public officials in Jamaica, but the question is are they real people? Can they make mistakes? Can they forget things? Can they get tired?
Mr Lester, forgive them their cups are running over.
