Dump NWC management!

Published:Thursday | January 10, 2019 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The entire management at the National Water Commission should be sacked with immediate effect. The road projects would have been on the books for some time, with plans for their implementation.

Where was the NWC in all the plans for these projects? Is the management of the NWC saying that it was not aware of any of these road projects before they started? Is the NWC telling Jamaica that these projects appeared out of nowhere like Nicodemus in the night? Is the NWC saying that the National Works Agency did not advise them or include them in the planning of these Legacy Projects from the outset?

The fact of the matter is that there is some level of incompetence and nonchalance, especially when it comes to the management of our water resources. Many persons in Jamaica are even paying for water that is not even coming through their pipes. Look at the Mandela Highway pipeline debacle. How can the management of the NWC explain this when they would have been sitting in planning meetings with the authorities developing that corridor?

This is the right time for the PM to do the right thing and get competent persons to run the NWC.
