Kerensia Morrison is the best replacement for Mike Henry’s seat
THE EDITOR, Sir:
On January 12, 2015, The Gleaner published a story entitled ‘Mike Henry announces departure plan’. The story reads:
“Central Clarendon Member of Parliament Mike Henry has indicated he might leave the political arena before the next general election is called, insisting that even if he seeks re-election, he is not prepared to stay beyond 2019.
“ Henry, who will turn 80 in June, outlined his agenda for departure during an emergency meeting with his constituency executive last Friday night.”
I strongly believe Mike Henry will not change his departure plan since a by-election is set to be called in Portland East.
Time has come
Mike Henry is one of my favourite Jamaica Labour Party politicians, but I believe that being a member of parliament from 1980 to the present is enough.
I strongly believe that Senator Kerensia Morrison is the right Labourite to get his seat when he has retired.
She’s a very tough politician, a rebel and a fighter like Mike Henry.
I believe she will carry on Mike Henry’s fight for reparations and ensure that his dream project of the Vernamfield Aerodrome is finished. Also, I believe the senator will ensure the revival of the railroad systems in Jamaica again.
