PNP is in a delicate position

Published:Tuesday | June 25, 2019 | 12:22 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The battle of the Peters is the most-talked-about duel in recent history in Norman Manley’s 81-year-old party. We shall see the great impact of the two stalwarts of the People’s National Party (PNP) come to the fore with some very serious talk about who is the best person to lead the party.

Faith in party leader Peter Phillips (1st Peter) is in limbo and dissipating fast and his popularity is quite dim. The PNP is in a delicate position.

Comrades must recognise and acknowledge 2nd Peter (Bunting) as a strong candidate with valid points who can lift the party from its present quagmire into a state of ascendancy.

The PNP needs a renewal to tackle the current challenges of the country. We cannot behave like wiseacres and allow the JLP to rule indefinitely without a strong Opposition.
