Give no place to obscenity

Published:Friday | August 23, 2019 | 12:11 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

We must be intolerant of the use of expletives in dancehall and encourage dignity, correctness and creativity onstage. I am flabbergasted by the deafening lobby of people advocating for the legalisation of the use of obscene language at stage shows.

Bright sparks like Senator Dr André Haughton, who is endorsing this non-productive cause, are behaving like dunces. Bounty Killer is also a prime advocate of the use of ‘bad words’.

We want strong voices with uplifting discourses in this, our neocolonial era, that can propel the society to new standards of excellence.
