Pay attention to public health sector

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I am concerned about the shortage of hospitals and ambulances in Jamaica. We are not a Third-World country as being described by the Government and others. Jamaica is seen by the world as one of the most developed countries in the Caribbean region.
We broke all kinds of tourism records in terms of visitors to the island, and lots of monies have entered our shores, so why can’t we put some of those monies into the development of public hospitals?
The nation has grown considerably. There is great demand for more hospitals to be built in all 14 parishes, along with many ambulance stations.
Sir, it is a fact that many Jamaican baby boomers would like to make Jamaica their home again, but where are the medicare facilities for these people? Every country needs a good and sound medicare with easy access and facilities, or the citizens will suffer.
I am calling on all levels of Government to listen to the cries of their people, crying for more health centres.
