NWA’s questionable road construction standards

THE EDITOR, Sir:

It would seem to me that the National Works Agency (NWA) has lost the ability to construct roads that can last. Just two years ago, Mannings Hill Road, in the vicinity of Sullivan Avenue, was closed for over four months to facilitate the construction of a concrete box culvert, concrete U-drains, retaining walls and gully inverts, to prevent the constant erosion of the road surface, from the water running across the road.

Well, sir, after the recent rains, the road surface, in the words of Stephen Shaw, “has been scoured badly” and massive craters are developing, leading to a significant slowing of the traffic along that corridor.
