Stop the ‘dirty’ politics

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I wish to join those who condemn homophobic remarks made on a People’s National Party political platform recently against a Jamaica Labour Party sitting member of parliament in the pursuit of political point scoring.

I, as Eddie Seaga’s only surviving sibling, well remember this political practice which was used against him many times during his productive period, creating so many far-reaching and important changes and additions to and for his country while these underarm and overarm ‘dirty’ politics were used against him.

This broke our parent’s and his family’s heart as he continued to take it while serving his country.

As an older woman, I am asking all in politics to only be critical of opponents’ political performance and not any other points, such as race, colour, sexual preferences, etc.

Jamaica should have come a long way since that era, I hope.
