Fix our road, Mr PM

Published:Thursday | July 2, 2020 | 12:15 AM

THE EDITOR, Madam:

This is an open letter to the prime minister.

Most Honourable Prime Minister Andrew Holness, I draw your immediate attention to the community of Pisgah, St Elizabeth, in the North West constituency, but specifically to the deplorable road conditions from Clermont to Pisgah via Ginger Hill.

That roadway serves as the main thoroughfare for our pineapple farmers, and has been neglected for decades.

A majority of the residents in these communities are honest, hard-working people asking for a simple resource – access to market and to a decent and safe roadway.

The current member of parliament, Mr J.C. Hutchinson, has been MP for over 23 years.

The aforementioned stretch of road has been in a state of disrepair and has been deteriorating as there has not been any repairs.

It has become a death trap for residents.

We are asking you to use your powers and authority to cause this road to get fixed, post-haste.

Residents have been complaining to their political representatives without redress and are justifiably indignant about the obvious under-representation and neglect.

At this juncture, residents are frustrated and they want you to act now! Members of the diaspora are also very concerned that ordinary taxpayers in those communities are horribly mistreated and subjected to neglect.

We cannot underscore, any more than we already have in the preceding paragraphs, the urgency of now as we solicit your action as the prime minister for all of Jamaica.
